Hi. You can call me Alvin (cue chipmunk jokes). I'm a Florida native, Brooklyn resident. Specifically Bay Ridge. It's a little slice of small town in a big city with wonderfully eclectic taste and authenticity that you just don't see in today's "hipsterfied" New York. It's where coffee still costs a dollar, restaurants are older than the clientele, Instagram doesn't matter and chefs cook from the heart. All values that I hold dear when it comes to food. I've been cooking since I was 14 years old and you'll be hard-pressed to find a time I'm not either mentally running through a recipe or brainstorming new ones. My career started out as a hobby. The passion for cooking was there, but it wasn't my end goal as a career choice until a family friend recommended me to cater for a rather large company Christmas party one year. I was up for the challenge. We made a menu of 25 different hors d'oeuvres, spent three days prepping and served one hell of a Christmas party. Since then, I knew my calling.

This is Wendy. She's what you'd call an "all-in-one". She's the eye behind the lens and the brains behind the design. She's also the fuel that powers the La Vie En Toast engine; cracking the whip to keep me regular with posting and site maintenance. Together we brainstorm ideas for new projects and recipes, mock up ideas and inspirations and test/experiment with recipes. Don't let the cute exterior fool ya, there's a generous amount of cayenne mixed into the sweet filling.
